Política de privacidad.
10. Tus derechos
Puedes pedirnos en cualquier momento:
- Acceso: qué datos tuyos tenemos y una copia.
- Rectificación: corregir los que estén mal.
- Cancelación: borrar tu cuenta y tus datos.
This is a translation for convenience. If it differs from the Spanish version, the Spanish version prevails.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of your data is Enzo Paolo Chavez Tinoco, an individual registered under Peruvian tax ID (RUC) 10720776052, with address at Av. Bolívar 2150, Pueblo Libre, Lima, Perú, owner of Decibel AI (“Decibel”, “we”). For any privacy matter, write to [email protected].
This policy covers the Decibel desktop app, the cloud service that powers it, and the decibelai.app website. It complies with Peru’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 29733 and its Regulation (Supreme Decree No. 016-2024-JUS). If you are in the European Union, it also recognises your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. At a glance
- Your audio and your projects never leave your computer. Decibel measures and reads them locally. Only numbers and names are sent.
- Your conversations are stored on your computer. To answer you, the text goes through our server to an AI provider that doesn’t know who you are.
- We only see your conversations if you let us. “Help improve Decibel” stays off until you say yes, and you can turn it off at any time.
- We don’t train models on your data, we don’t sell it, and there’s no third-party advertising or analytics.
- You can ask for a copy or the deletion of your data by writing to [email protected].
3. What data we process and why
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email, password (stored encrypted), sign-up date and plan | When you create your account | To give you access and apply your plan’s limits |
| Which version of these documents you accepted, when, and your “Help improve Decibel” choice | When you sign up and whenever it changes | To be able to prove what you accepted |
| Usage log: date, task type, amount of text processed, duration, and whether it finished, failed or was cancelled | Every time you ask the AI something | To apply limits, control costs and detect failures |
| Technical data without content: which actions the app attempted, whether they worked, and Ableton Live errors | Every time you ask the AI something | To find and fix bugs |
| App version, operating system and Ableton Live version | When you log in | Compatibility and support |
| IP address and access logs | Every connection | Security and abuse prevention |
| Copy of your conversations | Only if you turn on “Help improve Decibel” | To improve the app, its instructions to the AI and its security |
| Your rating (👍/👎) or problem report, with the conversation if you choose to attach it | When you send it | To improve the app |
| Email from the website form | When you sign up for the beta | To notify you of access and create your account |
| Whatever you write to us by email | When you write to us | To reply |
The content of what you ask the AI—your message and whatever data from your Live session is needed—passes through our server only to be forwarded. We don’t store it unless you turn on “Help improve Decibel”.
We don’t use your data to train artificial intelligence models, sell it, or use it for advertising. The website uses no tracking cookies or analytics: it only remembers your chosen language in your browser.
4. What stays on your computer
These live only on your computer. We never receive them, and they are deleted when you remove the app and its data folder:
- Your audio files and .als projects. Decibel analyses them locally and doesn’t copy them.
- Your conversations, except the “Help improve Decibel” copy.
- The index of your sample library and the list of installed plugins.
- Your settings, including your “producer context”.
Communication with Ableton Live stays inside your computer and doesn’t go over the internet.
5. The artificial intelligence service
To answer you, Decibel uses a language model from an external provider based in the United States. Our server forwards each request without your email, your identifier or your IP, so the provider doesn’t know who sent it.
Depending on what you ask, a request may include:
- Your message and the open chat’s conversation. Other chats are not sent.
- Your “producer context”, if you filled it in.
- The names of your installed plugins and of the devices in your Live edition.
- Data from your Live session: tempo, track names, devices, parameters and MIDI notes.
- Your sample paths, relative to your library: pack, folder and file names, never the full location on your disk.
- From an audio analysis: the file name, the genre you choose and the measurements.
- From an .als audit: its name, the Live version, and the tracks with their volumes, devices and settings.
The provider keeps requests for up to 30 days for security and then deletes them. It commits not to use them to train its models.
Mind the names. If you name a track or file after a person (“Vocal Ana”), that name travels with the request. Avoid including other people’s data you don’t want to share.
6. Why we can process it
- To provide the service you asked for. Your account, usage log, technical data, IP and forwarding to the AI are necessary for Decibel to work under the Terms of Use you accept.
- With your consent. The copy of your conversations (“Help improve Decibel”) and the reports you send us. You can withdraw it at any time from Settings without losing access to anything.
- To comply with the law. Keeping proof of what you accepted and responding to authorities when required.
If you don’t give us your email we can’t create an account, and without an account the cloud service can’t be used.
7. Who we share it with
Only with providers that help us deliver the service and process data on our behalf, without using it for their own purposes:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Database and authentication | Stores your account and the logs | The data in section 3 |
| Web hosting and network | Serves the website and the Decibel server, forwards email | IP, access logs and emails |
| Language model | Generates the answers | The requests in section 5, without data that identifies you |
We don’t sell or hand over your data to anyone else. We would only disclose it to an authority with a valid legal order. If you ask for the list with each provider’s name, we’ll send it to you.
8. International transfers
These providers have servers in the United States and other countries, so your data leaves Peru. We only work with providers that offer adequate contractual safeguards. These transfers are notified to and registered with Peru’s National Registry for Personal Data Protection (database “Clientes”, code PN-2026-362).
9. How long we keep it
| Data | Period |
|---|---|
| Account, environment and “Help” choice | While your account exists |
| Proof of what you accepted | While your account exists, plus 3 years |
| Usage log | 12 months; after that, anonymous totals only |
| Technical data without content | 90 days |
| IP and access logs | 30 days |
| Copy of conversations (“Help”) | 90 days |
| Ratings and reports | 12 months |
| Content of requests to the AI | Not stored |
When you delete your account, we erase all of the above except the proof of acceptance, and the usage log becomes anonymous totals.
10. Your rights
You can ask us at any time for:
- Access: what data we hold about you, and a copy.
- Rectification: correcting anything that’s wrong.
- Erasure: deleting your account and your data. You can also do it yourself from the app.
- Objection: that we stop using it for a specific purpose.
- Portability, if you are in the European Union: receiving it in a format you can take to another service.
- Withdrawing your consent, for example by turning off “Help improve Decibel”.
Write to [email protected] from your account’s email. We’ll reply within the periods set by the Regulation, in business days from the day after your request: 8 days for information, 20 for access, and 10 to rectify, erase or object. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to Peru’s National Authority for Personal Data Protection (Ministry of Justice and Human Rights), or to your local authority if you are in the EU.
11. Security
Connections are encrypted. Passwords are stored encrypted, never in readable form. Only the owner of Decibel can access the data. Technical logs don’t store the content of your requests. No system is infallible: if an incident affects your data, we’ll notify you and, where applicable, the authority, within the 48 hours required by law.
12. Minors
Decibel is not intended for anyone under 16, and you can’t create an account before that age. If we find an account belonging to a minor, we delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change anything important, we’ll tell you in the app and by email before it takes effect, and ask you to accept it again where the law requires. Each version shows its number and date at the top.
